It may only be Winter in Brisbane but Spring will have sprung before you know it. There is no harm to be thinking about cleaning your gutters in the coming months.
Many experts recommend cleaning your gutters at least twice a year– once in the late spring and once in the late summer/early autumn. But there are a few factors that might make you reconsider. If you have trees growing above your house, consider inspecting your gutters every 3 months. If gutters are not cleaned and water overflows from the gutters, it will fall along the foundation of the building which could result in structural damage. In addition water that spills or leaks from a blocked gutter onto the ground can cause water to splash back and damage your property. The affected area can suffer from penetrating damp, peeling paintwork, wood rot and unsightly cosmetic damage. If your gutters are full of leaves and twigs, a heavy downpour could result in extra water in the gutter causing the guttering to pull away from the house due to the extra weight. As stagnant water is an ideal ground for breeding mosquito larvae, you want to make sure you eliminate extra water pooling in your gutters to prevent the mosquito larvae growing and hatching (we all hate those pesky mosquitoes!!!!)
For all your guttering needs call the experts at Tru-Flo Plumbing to get your gutters professionally cleaned and looked at.
